Do you really need a new fireplace?

We find this an interesting area of our business. In our early days we specialised in removing, renovating and refitting the antique and reproduction open fireplace and hearth. In today’s world we think it would be wrong of us to help bring an open fire back to life for another few generations.

We now utilise our skills to reuse antique marble, oak, granite, cast iron and slate fireplace components to help create your bespoke masterpiece, specifically designed to accept high efficiency wood burning - multi fuel stoves and boilers; putting the heart back into any home in a way that's right for the future and the environment.

Many of our exclusive wood burning stoves from Charnwood, Clearview, Contura, Morso and Rais were specifically picked by us because the classic designs and quality blend perfectly with the classic designs and quality of your period fireplace. We’re sure your Victorian ancestors would have been very envious of your low emission, carbon neutral update.

We understand the reservations of some that adding a stove was not the intention of the original architects and builders. Did you fall in love with your old house because of its original features or because you wanted to live like a Georgian?

Inset stoves can be fitted into some original Essex & London open fire chambers, but the shape of most original fireplaces does not allow for any stove to be accepted. Squashing a free standing stove into an opening is bad practice, it does not look right, it will give little heat and it may damage the stove. Opening up the original brick builders hole is much better practice
